Flower Bowls Abounding

I had an inquiry through my Etsy store about what other flowers I needle-felted and I realized that it has been some time since I have done many. What better time to needle-felt flowers than the middle of a snowy dreary day when I am missing the sun and my blooming garden. So here are the first 2. As always, click on the pictures to go to the listings.

Nature Bowl in Purples

The yarn I knit my nature bowls and most of my dresser bowls out of is absolutely wonderful. It comes in the most amazing color combinations, is softer than soft and felts wonderfully. They take quite a bit of work because I choose to knit with the thinner yarn on smaller needles but the end result is so worth it. I would like to share with you the first in my series of Nature Bowls that I will be selling in my Etsy store. They will all come with a "ring bowl" for smaller collected items. If you see this and are interested in other colors I have available, drop me a line here at my blog.

Good Morning!

My Orange Star Bowl has been featured in a lovely Treasury. Check it out before it expires! AND I woke up to a sale of 4 bowls this morning of which I am hugely grateful for however, there is a good chance I will really be missing here at the blog since I can't type and knit at the same time. Hopefully I will prove myself wrong but in the meantime I do apologize ahead of time.

Gratitude Day(s)?

yep. Now I am so far behind it is embarrassing. This silly head cold has me all distracted and lethargic. Not a very good excuse, I know. I have a couple of pretty straightforward exclamations of gratitude though. The first is for our good friend who helped my Dear Husband wade through removing all the valuable files from our PC harddrive. I am grateful beyond words that the post office and paypal allow me to print shipping labels so I don't have to stand in the growing lines at the post office and last but not least I am so incredibly grateful to the farmers here in Colorado who grew the delicious organic beets and apples we have been enjoying. Who would ever have thought that my little guy would love vegetables and fruit so much. I guess that is another thing to be extremely grateful for.

I am busy knitting as always but will hopefully have some new bowls and cozies to share with you very soon. I should be running a felting wash this very night and am really excited about what will come out of it.

Whoops!

So I am missing a couple of days...We hiked 11.5 miles today and I am exhausted. I promise I will fill you in and post pics tomorrow. May everyone have the sweetest of dreams tonight. I know I will be sleeping like the dead myself.

Day #2

I am squeaking this one in under the wire I suppose. On the news they were talking about how our local food banks are in such need. I encourage anyone that can to donate to your local food bank to do so. We have and will continue to. I am so grateful that we are not wanting for food in our bellies and so pained that so many are. Every little bit counts.

3 New Bowls!

I am trying to get more bowls in my Etsy store. Here are the most recent:

Keeping Up and Thankful For It

So I today I made priorities. I could have stayed home tackled the sink full of dishes, sat down for some serious needle-felting not to mention all of the Christmas knitting I have decided to do. Instead I choose to go hiking/geocaching over 8.5 miles with my husband. We snapped some photos of the different angles we got to experience Pikes Peak this morning. Supposedly it will be cold and miserable tomorrow but you would never know it today with 6o degree weather and clear blue skies. I feel so Thankful on these days to be able to experience nature in such a way and I feel even more Thankful that my soon to be a year older body is still allowing me to go such distances. In honor of this time of giving thanks and my impending birthday I am going to do the 10 days Gratitude. I would love to hear what you are thankful for if you feel like sharing~

Upcycled Scarflettes

I have been sewing up a storm ever since Halloween. I had a request for an upcycled scarflette that looks similar to the Red Cuff that I made a while back. After some trial and error I think I have finally got it. Sorry for the poor picture quality , it was overcast and grey yesterday .

My Jedi

A week before Halloween my little guy finally told me he wanted to be Anakin Skywalker. So I got on the good old interweb and started searching out what I needed for a Jedi Padawan or Youngling costume. Everything I found was for bigger kiddos so I decided to improvise. I went to the craft store and found a pattern for kids karate uniforms and modified it for the tunic that I sewed out of Cream colored flannel then created an obi of sorts from the scrap fabric and the belt from an old leather camera strap my dad had given me. I found a $3.99 brown fleece blanket at a big box store when we went to get the all important light saber and created his robe from that. I really didn't have a pattern for that and I am still marveling at the sewing skills I have apparently picked up over the years. There was even a coordinating piece of grosgrain ribbon wrapped around the blanket with velcro so I used that for the robe closure. The underclothes are simply coordinating brown sweats and brown boots. It was so comfy that he probably could have worn it for longer even with the robe. Needless to say my little Jedi was a big hit when we went Trick-or-Treating.
